It’s that time of year again when we are delighted to announce the details of this year’s Arran Whisky Festival – Malt and Music which will take place from Friday 23rd June - Sunday 25th June 2023, with the main Festival Day on Saturday 24th June. This year’s Friday and Saturday events will take place at Lochranza Distillery and the Long Lagg Lunch will be held at Lagg Distillery on the Sunday.
We are really looking forward to welcoming you to join in the weekend’s festivities and celebrate all that our “two Distilleries on one Island” have to offer!
Here’s what we’ve got in store for our 14th Arran Whisky Festival - Malt and Music!
The White Stag Dinner - Lochranza Distillery – Friday 23rd June, 1800 – 2300. £115 per ticket.
The annual White Stag Dinner will kick start the weekend’s events on the Friday evening in the Grand Marquee in the grounds of Lochranza Distillery. As always, this special evening is a fantastic way to catch up with old and new friends and enjoy delicious food from the highly talented executive chef Scott Gilmour and some exclusive Arran drams!
You will be welcomed with a drinks reception and go on to enjoy a three-course meal featuring some of the best local island produce. Specially selected wines and drams will accompany the evening and each guest will take home a commemorative bottle of Single Malt. Tickets for The White Stag Dinner will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT.
Arran Whisky Festival – Malt and Music - Lochranza Distillery - Saturday 24th June, 1100-1700.
Entrance is free of charge. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. You will have the opportunity to attend a special Masterclass and enjoy our famous rare whisky bar (cash bar only) where you can try some of our whiskies by the dram, as well as local beers and other refreshments. The Bothy will be open throughout the day for “Drop In and a Dram” sessions with our knowledgeable tour guides.
Masterclasses – Lochranza Distillery – Saturday 24th June - A full programme of Masterclasses will be available on the day. The line-up of Masterclass tickets will be sold from Wednesday 8th March 2023 except for the Ultimate Masterclass which will go on sale the day before, Tuesday 7th March 2023.
Ultimate Masterclass – hosted by Stewart Bowman, Lochranza Distillery Manager and Graham Omand, Lagg Distillery Manager. 1230-1330 – Rowan House, Lochranza Distillery - £100 per ticket. PLEASE NOTE TICKETS FOR THIS MASTERCLASS GO ON SALE TUESDAY 7TH MARCH AT 1200 ON EVENTBRITE. The Ultimate Masterclass has become legendary over the last 13 years since our first Whisky Festival in 2010. A small group of participants will taste a selection of cask samples with our Distillery Managers from Lochranza and Lagg, to select the Festival single cask bottling for 2024. Stewart and Graham will choose three samples each and go head-to-head to see who will be the winner! Spaces on this unique Masterclass are much sought after and are extremely limited. Tickets will go on sale on Eventbrite on Tuesday 7th March at 1200, the day before the rest of the Festival tickets will go on sale.
Festival Favourites hosted by Sarah and Billy, Lochranza Tour Guides. 1230-1330. £45 per ticket. Limited spaces. Join Sarah and Billy for a walk down memory lane sampling Festival Single Cask and Harmony Editions past and present. A great way to taste through Arran Whisky Festival history! Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT on Eventbrite.
Guides Selection hosted by Pam and Fred, Lochranza and Lagg’s Senior Tour Guides. 1330-1430. £45 per ticket. Limited spaces. Our Senior Tour Guides from Lochranza and Lagg, Pam and Fred, take you through some of their personal favourites from the Arran Single Malt and Lagg Single Malt collections. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT on Eventbrite.
Stillmen’s hosted by John Dowens. 1330-1430. £45 per ticket. Limited spaces. This legendary masterclass needs no introduction if you speak to anyone who has previously attended! This year’s special edition is a wonderful opportunity to join John Dowens, who has worked in our production team for 12 years, for one last time due to his imminent retiral. John is raring to go with plenty of cracking drams and whisky making stories – let’s give him a fond farewell! Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT on Eventbrite.
Make Sherry Cool Again hosted by Lucy McKay, Sales Manager. 1430-1530. £45 per ticket. Limited spaces. Lucy’s love for whisky and sherry is in abundance and she makes regular pilgrimages to the Jerez area in Spain. Join her for this special masterclass taking you through a selection of Arran Single Malts paired with some delicious Sherries. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT on Eventbrite.
Old and Rare hosted by Scott Bain, Lochranza Tour Guide. 1430-1530. £45 per ticket. Limited spaces. Scott takes you on a tour of past expressions from some of our most popular special releases and limited ranges. Scott was one of the first members of our White Stag community and has had a long affinity with Arran – so much so he decided to move here a few years ago and pursue his love of whisky by joining our Lochranza team as a Tour Guide. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT on Eventbrite.
Evening Ceilidh – 2000-Midnight – £15 per ticket - the party is BACK!! Make sure to bring your dancing shoes (and midge repellent!) for an evening full of fun and ceilidh frolics in the Grand Marquee in the grounds of Lochranza Distillery. Tickets are limited and will go on sale on Eventbrite Wednesday 8th March at 11.00 GMT.
The Long Lagg Lunch - Sunday 25th June – Lagg Distillery. £50 per ticket. Limited Spaces. This year’s "Long Lagg Lunch" will be hosted by the team at Lagg Distillery. An opportunity to wind down and chill out after some hectic festivities and enjoy some delicious Sunday fayre and drams in a relaxed atmosphere. Hosted by Graham Omand, Lagg’s Distillery Manager. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 8th March at 1100 GMT on Eventbrite.
