The Lagg Geopark Single Cask

Celebrating Arran’s UNESCO Global Geopark Status with a landmark Lagg Single Malt Single Cask Release
Lagg Distillery is proud to mark a defining moment for the Isle of Arran, as Arran Geopark is awarded UNESCO Global Geopark status. This international recognition places Arran among a network of globally significant landscapes, acknowledged not only for their geological importance, but for the way they are protected, interpreted and sustained through local communities.
Since beginning production in 2019, Lagg has been closely connected to the island’s landscape and people. Throughout the Geopark’s journey to UNESCO recognition, the distillery has supported its work wherever possible, from welcoming visiting evaluators to engaging with expert panels who came to experience Arran’s unique environment first-hand.
At its heart, Arran Geopark is about connection, bringing people closer to the island’s natural and cultural heritage, while promoting education, conservation and sustainable development. It represents a collective effort across the island, drawing together organisations, businesses and communities in a shared commitment to protecting and celebrating Arran’s story.
To honour this achievement, Lagg Distillery has released an exclusive 6 Year Old single cask expression. Drawn from a second fill bourbon barrel, this rare bottling offers a distinctive take on the distillery’s vibrant character, shaped by the very landscape the Geopark seeks to protect.
A portion of the proceeds from the release will support the ongoing work of the UNESCO Global Geopark, helping to safeguard Arran’s geodiversity and ensure its stories continue to be shared with future generations.
Lagg Distillery is shaped by its surroundings, so it’s incredibly meaningful to celebrate Arran’s UNESCO Global Geopark status with this release. From the very beginning of our production, we’ve worked to reflect the island’s character in our spirit, and this single cask, drawn from a second fill bourbon barrel, offers a fresh perspective on that. It’s a whisky that speaks to both place and progress, which makes it a fitting tribute to this milestone.

Arran’s designation as a UNESCO Global Geopark recognises the island’s international geological importance, but just as importantly, the strength of its local community. The Geopark is about connecting people to the landscape, to heritage, and to each other. Support from partners like Lagg Distillery plays a vital role in that, helping us continue our work in education, conservation and sustainable development for years to come.
